Tulsi Badrinath

Tulsi Badrinath was born in Madras, in 1967, to Seeta and Chaturvedi Badrinath. She wrote her first poem when she was seven and began learning classical dance when she was eight.  Between 1984-88, her poems and articles appeared in the Indian Express. She had her formal solo debut in 1985 and began to perform across India. As part of the Bharata Kalanjali troupe, she travelled to six republics of the USSR in 1987 for the Festival of India.

After acquiring a BA in English Literature from Stella Maris College, Madras, Tulsi graduated with an MBA from Ohio University, USA. Returning to India, she worked for four dreary years at Standard Chartered Bank before quitting her job to pursue her twin passions — writing and dance.

Tulsi Badrinath's fiction was long-listed twice for the Man Asian Literary Prize — in 2007 and 2008.
